Gianluca Mattioli (1967 – 2017)

We are very sad writing this words. Referees family has just lost a dear friend. His life was finished too fast. There are so many happy moments that we can list with Gianluca in our life. His smile and always good mood is something we all will remember about him. Words are never adequate in moments like these. We will say though, that our hearts go out to you, and we will always recall the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing you. RIP Gianluca Mattioli.

Every time is the same story, four days of the camp are passing so fast, that you don’t know what were you doing. It is intense, hard, fun, sometimes difficult, but all of this is a lesson that we agree to take as a part of our learning process to get better.
Day 3 SATURDAY - how not to mess up your game

The day started early with morning gym, practicing the run, calls, jump ball, and also having some fun and a team picture ☺ This class was very useful to have professional refs looking at your base skills and techniques and giving advices.
Then campers run quickly to breakfast to come back even quicker for the lecture of Richard, treating about the officiating techniques, based on the presentation, same as at Euroleague camp 2 weeks ago.

We have started the day as usual with morning jogging at 8:15 by Marcin Kowalski, very refreshing to start the day like this, specially that the temperature is Radom is chill ☺ Some campers didn’t even stop running after 20 min and made another round. Well whatever makes you fit for the day!!
And yes we need you in your top shape as the agenda is pretty tight.
Day 1 THURSDAY - “Moonlighting” kick off - REFEREE.PL here we go!!!

This time we start the camp with the games. There are many games for our campers this time, so we take advantage of it, so for sure there will be a lot of material to work with. We are on 4 halls in Radom, divided into 2 groups and exchange the lectures with games during the whole game.
And Kuba will be our instructor at REFEREE.PL as always

Let’s close the list of instructors for 2017 REFEREE.PL with the founder of the camp. Kuba Zamojski is there at every camp, taking care that our campers have the best support possible. As you can imagine to keep all of this together it is a lot of work. Every year he says that there will be no more camp, but we know better ☺ For the sake of the future editions we shall take care that there is no glass wall in the camp permissions and hopefully nominations will come not 5 min before the game... (campers from past years will understand) ☺ Seriously, you already know Kuba and how much he cares for the camp, so you may expect nothing but another excellent event with a group of amazing international people!!

Euroleague Officials Director at REFEREE.PL - for the first time with us Richard Stokes!!

We are happy and proud to announce that Richard Stokes will join our instructor team at REFEREE.PL camp for the first time!
Richard is bringing the experience and know-how from the best league at the continent – Euroleague, where he works as an Officials Director for two years already. Before for ten years Richard was in FIBA Europe managing the Competition and Referee Department.
The basketball history of Richard’s starts much earlier though, as since 1985 he held referee license and became international official in 1993, and join the Euroleague list of referees in 2000.
Lahdo Sharro at REFEREE.PL as instructor - prepare yourself

For the third consecutive time we would like to welcome Lahdo at the camp in Poland working with us as an instructor. Lahdo Sharro is a Swedish referee, one of the best in his country. He was also officiating FIBA and Euroleague games for many seasons. Which all in total gives him almost 20 years on the court now and many important international matches officiated. Some of you may know Lahdo as an organizer of big referee clinic that is taking place every year in Sodertalje. Lahdo and Kuba are friends from many years already, they made a lot of games together and Kuba is also yearly an instructor at the Scania Cup.
Milan Brziak in Radom supporting the camp as an instructor

Milan Brziak will be the instructor for REFEREE.PL for the second consecutive time. Milan is coming from Slovakia and got his referee license in 1989, while in 1997 he obtained the international level. He has Euroleague experience as well as many FIBA tournaments on his career summary. He was also the camper of the first edition ever of the Kuba’s camp that took place in Bydgoszcz in 2004 !
FIBA force for the second time as instructor in Radom - Michał Proc

For the second time welcome to the REFEREE.PL Instructors team for Michał Proc from Poland. Michał is a young FIBA referee. He started to play basketball in the age of 10 and officiated his first game at the basketball preseason preparation camp for his team 2 years later. He comes from Warsaw and as an interesting fact, he also officiates Polish Championship in the arm wrestling.
Marcin Kowalski - Polish Euroleague experience at the camp

Welcome to the instructors team for Marcin Kowalski. This is the second time when Marcin is with us after the camp in Krakow. Marcin is an active FIBA referee. He is also officiating Euroleague and EURO CUP games. Marcin got his refree licence 27 years ago. He has great international experience of many Eurobaskets and Championships, that he will be very happy to share with you.
Polish Top league official and instructor for REFEREE.PL - Janusz Calik

Janusz Calik this year again will join our camp as an instructor. First time he was with us in Krakow, where he is originally from in Poland. Janusz became a referee in 1986 and 6 years later he officiated the top polish division, that lead he to become an international referee in 2000. Since many years Janusz is working with the basketball referees on various camps during seminars and clinics in Poland. It will be great to have his support and feedback for the camp, specially to hear to the advices of an active referee while observing and evaluating the game.
Top of the world class active referee at REFEREE.PL - Jose Carrion straight from Americas

It is going to be the second time for our camp to host Jose in person. Last year in Cluj and Radom he has stolen all referee’s hearts with his direct approach, practicality and amazing contact with the audience. Nothing surprising as Jose Carrion has a diploma in Education and 20 years plus of experience in teaching, both in Puerto Rico and US. On top of that Jose is one of the best officials in the World, with his impressive track record and achievements. We are very happy that this year again he will be with us and helping to develop and prepare your body and mind for the coming season. When in Radom take a moment to talk to him, about your goals, about what you need to learn and where to develop to achieve your dream nominations.
Saša Pukl in Radom - here comes the top experience!!

As our instructor's list is open we continue to announce the confirmed names of who is joining OUR TEAM for the REFEREE.PL 2017.
We are very pleased to tell you that Sasa Pukl will come to Radom this year to work with you. As an active referee with a long resume of games, tournaments and championships, including Olympics, he is a tresure of knowledge for the common trends, rules understanding and implementation during the game, player's different behaviour and so on. Everyone will have time to ask some questions and watch the video clips with Sasa, who will be watching you working your games.
From NCAA and NBA to REFEREE.PL - Tommy Nuñez coming as an instructor again!

We are very happy and proud to start presenting our instructor list for the 14th edition of REFEREE.PL basketball camp for officials taking place 14-17 September in Poland.
The first instructor we want to announce is Tommy Nuñez, who will be with us for the 5th time already in the history of the camp. Some of you had chance to meet him already, but for those who haven’t yet, Tommy is bringing his incredible over 2000 NBA officiated games experience, natural gift of engaging the audience while presenting, great sense of humor, and a lot of stories that will make you think and laugh ... ☺ He is also very dedicated to work with basketball referees, young adepts and support kids. In Radom Tommy will be working with our campers on and off the court helping to master the officiating skills.

First UFFO referee survival camp done !!!! - memories of our campers

Last month for the first time ever Referee.pl togehter with UFFO, as a partner, organized survival camp with totally new form of execution. This event had place in Jezierzyce, close to Slupsk, in Poland and was called UFFO Survival Camp 2017. Now two weeks passed and we were interested how our campers feel and what do they think about the camp from the time perspective, since it was physically heavy and completely new with many elements.
Day 4 and Day 5 - relax day and final sweating ...

The fourth day was planned to rest a bit comparing to the previous days, so with the morning wake up at 7 am our survivors had a referee training on the court practicing again the transmission, rotation, signals, jump balls and so on.
Day 3 - we are in the middle of the challenge ... 2 more days to survive

Very early wake up today and 7 am the group had already an intense training in the hall – transmission, rotation, signals and repeat. Sprints, free throws and repeat. :)
So after the breakfast they sit all togehter with instructors to have a workshop and analize the videos recorded the day before. This was followed by 1h of gym with the GetBetter coaches and 30 minutes sprin joggs on the outdoor court.
Day 1 and Day 2 - what happens in Jezierzyce

And so we kicked off the first 24 hours of the first ever survival camp for basketball referees!
Everybody arrived to Jezierzyce safe and found the facilities. Not that they are hidden in the woods :) The camp started with theoretical class about body language and criterias. Followed bypractical training from the mechanics on the court, campers were officiating some games and in the evening watching togehter the games recorded by the main camera and the cameras in the glasses.

There is no event that can run itself. Usually there is a team behind the organization and if we are lucky there are passionate people that love basketball and like to spend some time with helping events, stay close to the basketball, learn some interesting things in the meantime, and make new friendships.
This year Martyna Kubicka and Bartosz Kubik are helping onsite with pair of hands. Usually there is always something to do, so this help is very much appreciated.
Martyna and Bartek are students and basketball adepts. Martyna played basketball at school. This year they have been first in their region and got 10 place in Poland. Before she played in team of Wilki Morskie and was practicing in MKS KUSY Szczecin.
Thank you Martyna and Bartek for being part of the Refere.pl team for this camp.
Welcome the campers for the first UFFO Survival Camp 2017

The pilot survival camp in Poland is being done for the first time in a format that will be presented this year. Our participants will join in the same place and facilities the players camp GetBetter. This referees camp is special, as it will be very targeted on individual progress and therefore the planned group of campers is small, so everyone can get very special, individual attention while practicing with the instructors.
There will be 7 referees: Asimina from England, Veronika from Slovakia and Hande from Turkey and 4 gentlemen from Poland: Jan, Bartosz, Tomasz and Adam. Give a warm welcome to all of them, as there is a hard work ahead for the whole week!

The survival camp which starts in one week in Poland will be special from many reasons. Not only this is the first survival camp for referees ever organized, but also it is attached to GetBetter camp for players. Piotr and Kuba as instructors - will you survive?

I am pleased to announce the instructors of the first time ever in history survival camp for referees - UFFO Survival Camp 2017, that will take place 17-21 July in Jezierzyce, Poland.
It is not only about the physical preparation at all. This camp is about the individual work with each referee that will be tailored to his/her needs. Everyone has different moves, reflex, habits, customs of behaviour. While officiating you need to look in the right place, move properly, go where you need to go to see correctly play you observe. You need to make right signals in the proper way. All this will be practiced, togehter with body language adequate for each referee and to the moment of the game. Believe me you will be tired at the end of the week. :)
With this excercises we will have support from the top league - Piotr Pastusiak and Kuba Zamojski. None of them I need to introduce as you know them pretty well, specially Kuba. But few words of career highlights, just to remember that this people train the same like you to achieve their goals and dreams and to be where they are now.
On top ofyou will also be trained by the coaches and trainers from the Get Better camp (getbetter.pl), who are working with the top league players for their physical preparation to the season, but also in a new way. UFFO.PL & REFEREE.PL - Polish outfit quality at UFFO Survival Camp 2017

For the first time this year Kuba Zamojski will organize the survival camp for the referees from all around the world with the cooperation with a company UFFO.PL. This is a pilot project, which happens this year in Poland, is going in parallel with the player’s camp and its basic goal is to focus on the individual work of each referee as a preparation to the coming season.

UFFO SURVIVAL CAMP 2017 - Invitation

17-21 July 2017, Jezierzyce Słupskie, Poland
We are extremly happy to invite you for the first time to the completely new idea of the camp, where we will be working on the preparation for the following season togehter with the basketball players „Get Better Camp”. The main focus of the camp will be individual sessions, but in the group.
The camp will take place in Jezierzyce Słupskie, which is close to Słupsk and Polish sea side, located 120 km from the Gdansk airport. Słupsk is also accessible by train.
There is 5 days of hard work waiting for you. Here are the dates:
New project coming - Referee Survival Camp

From some time already we were thinking on how to help referees even more to improve by organizing extensive preparation camp that would combine organic activities for referees, same as for any other sport athletes.
We would like to announce this special initiative for the first time, as a new project coming available for interested referees to join.
We will choose the dates that will get the most interest of yours.
The camp will be new, different project focused on individual work, technics of refereeing (where to look, how to move, etc.), proper movements, a lot of physical work, active trainings, with coaches, work on physical condition, body build, physical preparation, coming back after injury, etc.). There will be theory and practice of officiating on the court. We will use new technologies. We will work in a group, as one team!
The camp is planned to be connected with the player’s camp (closed selected group for professional players) who will be preparing for the coming season.
All of this is prepared to make you better referees!
Location – Poland, close to the sea :)
Duration: 4-5 days
Group will host max 9 referees
